This residence is crafted with features similar to an Independent Living Option (ILO) and boasts SDA Improved Livability standards. However, it’s noteworthy that neither SDA nor ILO funding is necessary to rent this room. Our primary aim is to identify the most compatible co-tenant.
We seek a co-tenant who is striving towards independence. This includes developing essential life skills such as cooking and cleaning, and being engaged in studies or employment during the day.
Mr. A, a man in his 30s, shares the home with two flatmates who are currently students and can provide overnight support if needed. Mr. A looks forward to a flatmate who is keen on joining him for social outings on weekends. Possible activities include visits to museums, libraries, festivals, movies or the local sports club. These social engagements are primarily planned for Saturdays using public transportation.
Overnight support arrangements can be discussed and shared among the tenants as needed.
The house features 4.5 bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms. There is a small lounge area and a large communal space in the kitchen designed for interaction and convenience.
The available room costs $180 per week, covering water and internet expenses. Electricity costs are shared (average bill is between $300 – $500 per quarter). The living agreement is based on a rolling month-to-month REIQ contract with a comprehensive House Sharing Agreement for all tenants.
The room is unfurnished but includes built-in wardrobes and has ample space for a queen-size bed, bedside tables, and a desk. It also includes dedicated TV and computer points, an individual bathroom, and fully ducted air conditioning.
Our space includes a front and back patio, communal areas with leisure facilities such as a pool table and TV for entertainment. Smoking is prohibited and responsible alcohol consumption is allowed. Security is a priority, and tenants are expected to maintain it diligently. An extra set of keys can be provided for a parent or support person.
It’s important to note that support workers must be vaccinated and insured. This home is not operated by a service provider and it does not have garage space as it’s used for the communal area. Also, each tenant has dedicated storage facilities including separate fridges and pantry spaces.
Located in Capalaba, this facility is not a registered SDA Home but offers excellent amenities and a supportive environment.
